Children's clothes can be very expensive if you don't find ways to save money on them. There are many ways to stretch a dollar when it comes to children's clothing. You don't have to sacrifice your child's image to be thrifty. Being a little creative can stretch you money much further.

Guide to Saving Money on Children’s Clothes

Goodwill- Goodwill gets many donations from people who have good clothes and simply don't want them anymore. The products that enter the Goodwill stores can be very high priced items if bought at the store. The amazing prices on these clothes will allow you to purchase much more and still save money. Your child will still have the style he/she desires. You just won't feel it in your wallet.

Yard Sales- Yard sales are notorious for great prices on barely used clothing. The great thing about purchasing at yard sales is that you can generally talk the seller into going even lower in the pricing. You will have to be very careful about getting clothing from yard sales though. You can find great deals, but you can also come out of it with clothing that has tears and rips, even stains. Look the clothing over thoroughly before making the purchase.

Swapping- Trading clothing with friends is a great way to keep your children clothed at no price at all. For instance, if you have a child who needs size 8 and your friend has a child who needs size 10, swap what clothes you each have available. Make sure the clothes are in good repair. You also want to make sure that the clothing isn't out of fashion any longer.

Sales- Look for major sales at expensive stores. You can get some great clothing items for your kids at stores like Kohl's who are infamous for having blow out sales that everyone can afford. Wait for these sales before you go shopping so you know what to put on your list and what order you want to visit them.

Department Stores- Stores such as Wal-Mart and K-Mart have inexpensive children's clothes that are in style. If you catch a good sale at these stores, you can get the clothing at next to nothing prices. Every kid likes to have new clothing that is all his/her own from the start. These stores make it possible to provide that without breaking your bank account.

Make your own- If you know how to use a sewing machine, put it to good use. You can make your children's clothing at a fraction of the cost of the stores. You should only use this method if you are talented with the sewing machine. You can learn how to sew by taking some courses on it. This can save you hundreds of dollars a year in kids clothing.

Parents can get creative to save money on children's clothing. Follow the above guide to help you along the way. It pays to be thrifty. Its expensive raising children. There is no point in making it even more so. This will leave you money to put in your savings account for other things.
